If you’re like most people, the past few years have just been about survival mode and unfortunately our health and fitness has taken a back burner. Thankfully things like gyms are opening up more, and mask mandates are disappearing, meaning it’s becoming easier to take charge of our health once more. No matter where you’re starting from, there’s absolutely no better time than now to get started putting your health first. Here are my top 4 tips for getting healthy in 2022.
1. Consider Meal Replacements
If you’re busy trying to juggle all areas of your life, then it can be a real challenge to make sure your eating is on point too. For that reason, I love meal replacement shakes. They’re a great way to get a bunch of nutrients in, including higher protein and probiotics, without slaving away in the kitchen for hours. They’re also perfect for those of us who are busy and on the go, as we can pop one into our bag as we head out the door. If you’re considering meal replacement shakes, be sure to look into some that have a probiotic diet plan, because you’ll be able to enjoy all the added benefits of healthy probiotics too without adding in an extra supplement.
2. Look Into Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent fasting is basically when you have specific eating and non eating windows. We all naturally fast – most of us don’t eat anything once we’ve gone to bed until we wake up in the morning, so at least that period would be considered a fasting period. In order to enjoy many of the benefits fasting provides, you can extend the fasted window. There are a variety of fasting lengths that are popular – such as 18/6, which is a 18 hour fasting window and a 6 hour eating window. You can choose your eating window to fit around your lifestyle, such as if family dinners are important to you, then you may choose to have a window as 12-6 or 2-8 in order to be able to enjoy mealtime with your loved ones. There are numerous health benefits to IF, but it can also be a great way to help your body lose weight.
3. Get Active
Moving your body is such an important part of staying mentally and physically healthy. Find a sport you love, sign up at the gym, go on a long hike with friends. Do whatever you can to move your body more often so you can get those feel-good endorphins pumping and feel better about life. If you’re somewhere where it’s the peak of winter right now, it may be harder to get active but that’s where a gym membership or even buying an exercise machine can help you reach your goals. You can learn more about what you can do to buy tools to help make your life easier.
4. Work on Your Mindset
Having a healthy body is much easier when you’re in a good headspace. The last few years have been hard on us all, so it could be worth considering things such as therapy, meditation and even medication if things are feeling really tough for you. If therapy isn’t in your budget right at this moment, you can download some positive podcasts to listen to and ensure that you’re able to work on your mindset. You can get busy with a new hobby, or even a new home project like installing a cladding system in your home. If you can improve your mindset, the benefits will flow onto all areas of your life.
Finding ways to get healthy can be challenging, but hopefully these tips inspire you for ways you can dramatically improve your health in 2022.
