If you’ve recently designed or revamped your home and aren’t sure what finishing touches to add, it’s time to think about wooden decors.
Wood naturally provides warmth and softens color contrasts. It is also necessary for creating unique rooms by giving them a classic farmhouse or rustic appearance.
Over time, wood has become one of the most commonly used natural resources by humans. It’s used in a variety of items, including lighting fixtures, fine decorative accessories, and wood furniture. For several years, these decorations have served as a constant backdrop in home interiors.
Fortunately, having wooden decors plastered or hung in your home does not mean you need to break the bank. There are simple DIY projects you can do to give your home a traditional, old-world feel. Here are a few examples.
Headboards
Do you need a headboard to complete the farmhouse theme in your bedroom? It’s possible to make one out of an old barn door! You can do it with any material you like, but it is recommended that you use old barn wood and pallet boards to achieve the desired look.
Picture Frames
Are you fed up with your old picture frames? With a little effort, you can turn them into lovely rustic décor. Burlap can be used for formatting, and then black and white images can be added. If this isn’t enough, add tiny satin ribbons and embellish them. Putting family name signs alongside will complete the look, giving your entire room a vibrant and cozy vibe.
Cabinet Handles
Twine is inexpensive, and you can use it to spruce up the appearance of your cabinets by wrapping it around the handles. Twine will turn your kitchen into a gleaming work of art. Best of all, it’s an easy project to complete. You’ll just need paint, strings, and glue to give your cabinet handles a new look.
Making Stalls
Don’t throw away the wooden pallets you have lying around your house. You can use them to make a bench. It will look great inside the door or on the deck. Finish it up by sanding or staining it to your desired tone.
The result? A lovely bench for you that costs nothing or needs little effort.
Small Furniture
Small fruit boxes can be upcycled, varnished, or painted to create aesthetically pleasing wooden furniture. After polishing, you can use them for storage. For example, you can stack them vertically and use them as a phone cabinet.
But that’s not all. It can be used as a coffee table too. Add a modern design touch to it by adding wheels to the bottom so it can roll around. You would have made it multifunctional, for example, as a desktop desk.
A Wine Trestle
Converting an old wooden pallet into a wine rack will make your kitchen or dining area more beautiful than you thought. This project is simple as all you need to do is build a shelf to hold your wine bottles. Then, using a drill, build a hanging section at the bottom. The finished product will look amazing.
Create Ledges
Pallets, both new and used, are inexpensive and versatile, and they can be used for a variety of purposes, including the construction of pallet shelves. You only need three hours per shelf for this project. With a few materials, you can paint your work with the colors of your choice.
