For most of us, 2020 was a confusing and tough year. So we’ve been waiting for 2021 with anticipation. Now it’s here, chances are you’re going to be wondering how you can improve things, tick off your new year’s resolutions and get your life back on track. One of the most important aspects about achieving any goals, is productivity. Modern life is filled with many distractions, from the social media apps on our phones, to all the commitments we have pulling us in all directions. For this reason, if you can master your productivity you will find it easier to reach your goals. Here are my top 4 ways to be more productive in 2021:
1. Upgrade Your Computer
If you work from home, or on a computer of any capacity, then chances are you know how much of a difference a new computer can make. Many of us have had our jobs become work-from-home situations, and our laptops just aren’t cutting it! It’s a lot harder to have correct posture when working from a laptop compared to a desktop computer, the smaller screen can often make it harder to be as productive as possible. For those reasons, if it’s in your budget I think investing in a desktop computer is one of the best productivity upgrades you can make if your work is computer based. If you’re on the look for a new computer, check out this fantastic desktop sale to score a great deal.
2. Make A Plan
Without a plan, you’re more likely to be reactive than proactive. You also may not be prioritising the most urgent tasks, or organising your schedule in a way that allows you to really move forward each day. Set one day a week where you sit down and a make a list of tasks for the week and when you plan to complete them. Setting aside an hour each week can save you so much lost time wondering what to do or scrambling to remember all the tasks you had on your mind. This is an activity I like to do every Sunday to get me set up for the week, but you may prefer to do it in Monday morning or even Friday afternoon to get yourself ready for the coming week.
3. Learn to Say No
We often feel a lot of pressure to say yes to every invitation, to take on extra tasks at work and to “do it all.” One of the best ways to be more productive with the things you really need and want to do, is by setting clear boundaries about the things you can’t commit to. Prioritise what’s really important to you and don’t over commit, allowing yourself ample time for the things that really matter including sleep!
4. Limit Screen Time
Do you know how many hours a day you spend on your phone? Chances are, if you’re like the average person, it’s probably twice as long as you think. Each year the average amount of time people spend on their phones creeps up and up. There are a number of apps that can track this for you, so you can see how much your phone use is. Often we feel like we don’t have time for the things that are important to us, so cutting down on screen time is a great way to find a few extra hours a week or a day to do those things.
Hopefully these tips help you start of the new year on a good foot. Being productive with your days can help you tackle your goals faster than before so you can be living your best life.
