With the holidays around the corner, you may be planning to take your kids somewhere where they can play in the sun. If this is the case, Miami is a great choice. One of the great things about Miami is it’s simply so kid-friendly- whether you’re bringing toddlers or teenagers.
However, there are a few things you can do to make sure your trip is a success. Here are some tips:
Hire a car
Miami (and Florida in general), is nothing but highways. Getting around can be super difficult if you don’t have a car, which is why it’s a good idea to rent a car in Miami. Luckily, car rental is easy and affordable, so you can pick up a car as soon as you land at the airport.
While there are definitely airport shuttles, these aren’t always on a convenient schedule if you’ve got kids. Public transport also isn’t great in Miami, and services like Uber and Lyft can quickly add up. Hiring a car gives you the freedom to go wherever you like, whenever you like- whether that means popping out for a quick meal, or taking a grumpy child back to the hotel for a nap.
Research in advance
While there are lots of things to do in Miami, it makes sense to do your research in advance. That’s because it can be easy to spend all of your time on just a few attractions, and there’s so much to see and do. If your kids are old enough, let each of them choose a fun, family-friendly activity. They’ll be excited when it’s their turn, and more likely to behave well during other activities as a result.
Get out of Miami
This may seem like a strange piece of advice since we’ve already mentioned how much there is to do for families in Miami. However, if you choose to go with car rental in Miami, you can easily take the kids to Orlando and explore the theme parks for a day or two- something that the kids are guaranteed to love. There are also excellent zoos, Everglades, and other attractions like Key West close by.
With the freedom of the open road, you can see many different attractions within a small timeframe, and without the stress of needing to book flights, shuttles, or buses.
