Most of us want to travel more. We look at photos on Instagram and imagine ourselves in Greece or Thailand. And then we follow those ideas up with thoughts about our full-time jobs and busy schedules.
If you’re hoping to add more travel into your life, here are some tips to make it happen:
Visit places where friends and family live
Accommodation will be one of your biggest expenses when you’re travelling. That’s why you should try to visit some of the places where your friends and family live. Is your cousin studying abroad? Maybe an Aunt lives overseas or your best friend has recently moved countries? There are few things as fun as being shown around a city by someone who knows it like the back of their hand. You’ll get to see things that you would otherwise miss if you were on the typical tourist trail.
Budget accordingly
We all have priorities in our life. If your priority is a massive TV and a new car, you do you. But if you would prefer to be swanning around Turkey or exploring Canada, you’ll need to know your finances inside and out. There’s no point spending everything you earn on travel if it just stresses you out and makes you feel like you have no financial security. But it’s definitely possible for you to see where you can cut back and put that money into your travel fund, or get help from corporate travel agencies.
Jump on cheap deals
One of the best ways you can increase the amount of travel you get to do? Sign up for as many travel newsletters as you can, join travel-centred Facebook groups, and keep an eye out for any sales. Every now and again, check out Webjet cheap holiday packages or Webjet cruise deals to see if you can find a bargain. You’ll be surprised by how much you can save simply by being ready to press the “book now” button.
Check out your backyard
Travel isn’t only about far-flung destinations. Just remember that your country is exotic to millions of people around the world. If you’re saving for a big trip but you’d still like to do some travel in the meantime, consider taking a few domestic trips each year. This could be as simple as a road trip that takes you somewhere you haven’t yet been.
