Where you live is a huge part of your lifestyle: it dictates what seasons you’ll endure, what kind of activities and facilities are in your area and ultimately how your lifestyle will be. No matter where you live in the world, chances are a little bit of your identity stems from when you’re from. It’s safe to say your address matters! If you’re dealing with customers, then you’re going to want to be sure to verify addresses before you send anything there way. Using a simple application such as Addressy can make a world of difference for your business. I love looking at how areas have changed throughout the decades, as well as how television and the movies have influenced the reputation of an area. There’s probably nowhere else in the world that has been more heavily portrayed than Los Angeles. Here’s my take on how Los Angeles has been transformed on the screens:
Beach Bum Culture
Due to Los Angeles location and proximity to amazing beaches, one of the biggest ways Los Angeles has been portrayed is to have a beach bum kind of culture. One of the most famous beach shows, Bay Watch, was filmed here. While Los Angeles is known worldwide for having some of the greatest beaches, Bay Watch did a wonderful promotional job showing off the famous LA lifestyle of sun, sand and surf.
Beauty Culture
It’s no secret that Los Angeles is home to numerous talented plastic surgeons and thousands of clients who are happy to nip and tuck everything. For the real celebrity gossip that everyone seems mildly addicted to, there’s E! News which is set in Los Angeles, showcasing everything that’s happening within the celebrity world. It’s no surprise that this is set in Los Angeles, after all it’s where all the actors and actresses flock to pursue their dreams. E! News keeps you up to date with all the gossip which is a huge part of the Los Angeles scene.
Family Life
There are a number of TV shows about families set in Los Angeles, from the Brady Bunch that most of us adored in our childhoods to the more modern family units, such as Malcolm in the Middle and Modern Family. Through watching these shows you can see how the family units have changed in the United States and specifically in Los Angeles. People are having less children and the makeup of families has changed dramatically with non-conventional families becoming much more common.
No matter what shows you love, chances are at least a few shows based in LA feature on your list. Next time you’re watching, take a moment to see how things have changed in LA – it’s very interesting!
