1. Fill your Instagram
With so much to see in Abu Dhabi, it’s a good idea to take some time to simply wander around and take photos of the many sights. You may want to rent a car in Abu Dhabi so you can get off the beaten path a little and see more things in less time.
2. Visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
This mosque is famous around the world, and is considered by many to be the landmark building of Abu Dhabi. Made from Macedonian marble, this huge mosque has incredible mosaic tiling, gorgeous glass-work and intricate carvings so be sure to visit.
3. Check out Heritage Village
If you want to learn how the Bedouins live, head to Heritage Village where you can wander and see Abu Dhabi pre-oil boom.
4. See Al-Hosn Palace
This is also known as the White Fort of Old Fort, and it’s Abu Dhabi’s oldest building. Built in 1793, it was where the ruling family lived and the government sat. Now you can wander through and see all it has to offer.
5. Head to the Observation Deck
Head up to the observation deck at the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers Hotel, which is the highest spot in Abu Dhabi. This is a great place to take photos or have high-tea.
6. Visit the Women’s Craft Centre
Here you can see local women doing traditional skills like basketry embroidery and weaving and it’s a great place to pick up some souvenirs.
7. Check out the Zoo
The Emirates Park Zoo is home to plenty of animals, including giraffes, white tigers and elephants. If you’ve got children they’ll love the petting zoo.
8. Take a Boat tour
If you head out from the marina on a boat tour you’ll get great views of Abu Dhabi and even more opportunities to take excellent photos.
9. See the Liwa Oasis
To really feel like you’re in the Middle East, take a trip to the Liwa Oasis where you can ride a camel or go sand surfing.
10. Sunbathe on Yas Island
Yas Island is where you’ll find most of Abu Dhabi’s luxury hotels, and it’s the perfect place to spend some time sunbathing.
