Due to the current global situation, many of us are spending more time at home than ever before. Not only are we working from home where possible, but many of us aren’t really leaving the house except for running essential errands. With more time spent at home, many of us are turning to our homes and gardens to see how we can make them more comfortable and enjoyable. For most people their gardens are towards the bottom of their priority list, but with summer peaking around the corner and all this extra time at home, there’s absolutely no better time than now to renovate your garden. Here are my top 4 garden renovation ideas:
1. Adding a Vegetable Patch
The current economic climate has all of us a little bit on edge. Maybe your hours have been cut, maybe you’re down to one income, or maybe you just love gardening! Whatever the motivation, adding a vegetable patch can be a great way to give you a little extra peace of mind. There’s also something so satisfying about growing your own food and then using them in the kitchen.
2. Artificial Grass
If you’re finding it hard to keep the grass in your garden beautiful, it might be worth looking into artificial grass. Long gone are the days of bright green grass that looks fake and unnatural. Nowadays artificial grass looks a lot more like real grass without all the care and maintenance. You may also be surprised to know that artificial grass costs a lot less than you might expect. Depending on your garden you may find it best to replace all your grass or just a section of it – there are so many options!
3. Adding a Deck or Patio
Do you have a dining area outside? I personally love dining outside, especially as the weather heats up. The type of space you add will depend on your property and what style you prefer, but either can add a lot of function and value to your home. Generally a decking is connected to the home, where as a patio is something that tends to be further set in the garden. Both are perfect for placing a small table and chairs on and enjoying a hot tea in the morning or a lovely dinner into the evening.
4. Adding a Shed
Depending on the size of your garden and how many tools you need to keep it looking beautiful, you may find building a shed a very helpful addition. Even a small shed can help ensure that your garden remains tidy and that you don’t make your garage feel too cluttered with all your tools. If you’re on the fence about building a shed, but not sure it’s worth the extra cost. Bare in mind that your shed can also become a workspace, allowing you a dedicated area to work on your handy projects.
I love a good garden and regularly enjoy spending time in my own. Hopefully these four garden renovation ideas inspire you to make some changes to your own garden this summer.
