2017 was a massive year for technology, and we’re expecting 2018 to be no different. Here are a few of the top tech trends to watch out for this year:

Augmented Reality

Before we all had a smartphone in our pocket, the idea of spending hours each day staring at our phones was crazy. This year, we thankfully won’t be bending our necks quite as much. We’ve all been speaking with bots when we’ve called to check our bank account balances or make an airline reservation. This year, we can expect natural language bots to be routine as customer service agents in every industry.

People will soon have bots at home as well, reminding you to take your medicine or letting you know that if you make that online purchase you’ll be over your credit limit. These bots will soon be acting as financial advisors, helping with children, and adding value with every brand.

Wireless charging

Wireless charging has been around for a while, but this trend will be seen everywhere this year. Wireless charging works when you put your smartphone on a charging mat that’s Qi-compatible. But this year, you may see over-the-air charging, which will deliver power through the air as long as they’re at least two feet away. This could be used to charge devices like wireless keyboards, smart watches, smart speakers, and smartphones.

Voice Assistants

Voice control will dominate this year. This will determine how we all interact with our computers. Amazon’s Alexa, Samsung Bixby, and Google Assistant have already been doing the things we ask of them. Things like getting updates on the weather, playing music, and suggesting nearby places based on your current location are already possible.

But in 2018, voice assistants will be carrying out more than just basic commands. Information about your schedule, recipes, and commands will all be added.
