From political propaganda to small business data theft, cyber attacks are rife and don’t look like they will be fully prevented any time soon.
Criminals have been using online opportunities for theft for some time now and despite there being a huge amount of investment, both by the government and from businesses themselves in cyber security, there doesn’t look like an end to this line of crime. People may think that the outlay is quite high but if they do lose data that is highly important, they will gladly pay what it takes to get it back. That’s not to say it costs a lot of money, just that some businesses prefer to cut corners and won’t always pay for something that they perceive as not being essential. The ironic thing is, when they do find themselves in a position where data has been lost they will suddenly regard data recovery and data protection as an essential cost. Of course, it will be too late by this point and you they will either be unable to recover the data or they will have to pay for several different methods of trying to retrieve it.
Don’t be in the population of people that think a cyber attack or severe data loss will never happen to them. Hopefully it won’t ever happen to you but just like paying for insurance for a house, taking necessary cover tends to work out better in the long run.
